Brake light switch

Not really a question but a request...my :water reservoir: brake light switch is the culprit of my battery being dead all the time. Is anyone able to snap a picture of their brake light switch so I can see its stock positioning when installed, as well as the 2 connectors that are on it?

The schematics I have don't give wire color. Mine may be installed wrong...

mine is pink and blue for wiring.  it is mounted to the brake pedal frame at the same point where the pushrod connects to the pedal assembly. here is what the switch looks like.

I know exactly what it is, where it is and the wires,  etc.

When I pulled it off last time (or a few times ago) I neglected to pay attention to how it gets reassembled back onto the brake and booster, as well as the 2 connector positions.

I do know that the wires can be put on wrong and the brake lights work as well.

Just need a pic of the whole bloody thing that is already in a car.

Sorry about that, I figured out that when you hook up the wires for the cruise control wrong, it blows the fuse that is in the wiring. I've done that a few times.

If you don't have cruise control, I don't think it matters which way you put the wires. It's just a simple contact switch.

I do, but the switch is above the brake switch. On another note when k do my swap that is going to be the place I put the XJ brake switch.

Getting tired of my constantly dead battery.

the cruise control module also gets a feed from the brake light switch. if it isn't functioning correctly, or doesn't have the input, the module will not know that you applied the brakes, and will try to keep the vehicle at the set speed. what year xj do you have?

Lights are off, seem to work normally but I have to pull the connectors to stop the battery drain.

And it's a 94 XJ. I'll be posting my build when I'm done. I have a few awesome ideas I'll be using for the build. It's going to be huge.

I answered 2 posts at once :P

The XJ is from 1994 that is the donor for my swap.

The Eagle has the switch problem.

Won't matter in a week anyways, once the swap is done I'll be running the XJ wiring throughout the vehicle, and the brake switch will be from the XJ. Where the cruise control actual sits I am using that for my modification. I cut the piece of metal with the fitting off the XJ, it's a simple matter of spot welding it to the cruise control switch spot and adjusting the XJ brake light switch so it hits the same plate the stock eagle cruise control actuator did.

SO so simple.

Ok, That's new enough that it would be a chryco wiring system instead Of Amc. Were the brakelights staying on in the eagle?

the plug that was plugged in on the left went to the cruise control module, that wire also has a 4 amp fused tapped into it near the fuse block to protect the module if you hook the switch up wrong. ive blown that fuse  a few times myself. the eagle uses a black cruise control module, while at least the renix era xjs use the yellow module. they look the same, but the module is different. ive opened up a couple of spare modules and compared them already. the xj unit is more complex.i will have to look if they will interchange sometime.

All the Eagle wiring is being replaced with the XJ wiring, that's why I'm modifying the whole Eagle to work with XJ goodies.

I'll have pics and stuff up later on, probably after next weekend.

I switched my MJ to the pushbutton switch. They are much simpler to troubleshoot. I had to when I switched to a '97 XJ brake booster and master for better brakes.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!
