Besides the Limited models I don't think there was any extra badges for other models/trim packages...I could be wrong though.

All the concords we had had DL badges under the emblem, I know that's a concord but I would think that it would be the same for the eagle, I may be wrong though.

Come to think of it I don't remember reading anything about a DL model. Besides base/limited/sport, I don't think there were any other models. Though I did read on the Wiki something about both the Base and Limited models were based off the Concord DL/Limited.

"The Eagle came base and upscale Limited trims, both of which carried the same features as the Concord DL and Limited, respectively. A sports package was available only on the 2-door and wagon models featuring in addition to "Sport" emblems"

So it could just be a factory mix up.

Mine is aslo a DL model according to the VIN with no badging for it. The trim level, group or model as AMC called it was based on the 6th digit of the vin number which should be a 5 (D/L) but this was only for the 1980 model. I had thought the D/L model was based on the type of interior material used which I have the velour in my car but I see in your pictures you have both cloth & vinyl so my theory went out the door

haha I bet you're one of those freaks who use the word "pop" to mean "soda" too. That's a felony where I come from. Tis all good, different strokes for different folks.

As for the definition of sedan, even Mercedes can't convince me otherwise. I'm just as stubborn about calling a 1980 AMC Eagle an "all wheel drive" car even if AMC called it "four wheel drive" back then. I wonder if that Mercedes has more than 33 cubic feet internal volume? If it did I doubt the marketing department at Mercedes would care.

Off track for just a minute, back in Misery where I lived, some people actually called it sodY (rhyme with Cody). Never knew how they got that "E" sound on the end when it has an "A" on it. Up here, they call it pop.Thank you for your time. We now return you to your regularly scheduled posts. Sorry about that, just had to comment on that.

I just read the article which was very interesting. I wonder how many Eagles are still left after a total production of nearly 197,500 (1980-1988) 32 years later?

Cherokee wheels are a common swap, many styles to choose from. I put the dark gray 5 spokes on the sx/4, looks ok.
