What ever happened to the Mid West Sanctuary? I believe the member that started it was "Mavricke"? Still around?

It closed.  I have no idea where Mavericke is at this time.  I have heard both Illinois and Texas.

Some were hauled off by the authorities, one or two rescued, not sure about the rest.  Pat Carpenter might know.

Sorry to hear that. Did he have some zoning issues? Case of poor planning?

Yes, to both.  I think they said it was an unlicensed junk yard.

I hadn't heard that all of that stuff went down.  I had traded emails with Mavericke a few years ago about Eagles and life in general, and always wondered if he was taking on too many things between work, wife, kids, house, band, and Eagles.

I don't wanna stir up his personal life, but I think he got a divorce and was looking to move anyway. Really sucks, I met him in person and slept on the floor at his house the year me and my GF went up to the Cordova Eagle meet. I was actually going up to look at one of his cars. He seemed like a nice guy and his ambitions for his sanctuary were very cool. It's a shame things fell apart the way they did and especially to hear that some of his Eagles were taken away from him.

I rescued my Eagle not quite a year ago. At the time there were (I THINK) two Eagles in his barn & maybe 2 or 3 against the fence outside. Story was the county got upset about having all the Eagles sitting there & he 'had to' (HIS words) scrap the rest of them!
