Working with another admin to see if we can disable the face book feed.  What do members think about us doing that?  Good technical stuff is getting scattered around.  I know that Ken meant well but this seems to have had unintended consequences.

It's fine with me. I'm on the Facebook page enough. I don't need it clogging up the forum with stuff I've probably already seen. I don't really open any of the FB posts in here.

OK -- we think the feed is disabled.  If there are any issues I will take the heat.

Without the FB feed, I'll miss many of the posts on there.

I think we can turn it back on.  Hopefully we will get more comments.  This is just my observation and I am an old guy, but I am thinking a lot of the good tech stuff was getting lost by not be categorized.   When I started the FB group I was hoping it would just be for friendly chatter, you know social stuff and if anyone had issues here at the forum such as getting approved for membership.  The more technical stuff still being here.

IowaEagle,

I'm all for it.  I like your original idea of using Facebook for social chatter (indeed, that's what Facebook was designed for), and letting the Den be the repository for organized, useful knowledge, technical or otherwise.

The Facebook posts are frustrating if you're not a Facebook member, because you can't click on links; and if you are a Facebook user, why not access the Eagle Facebook page from there, where everything works the way you expect it?

And lastly, it seems to me that the Den has been diminished, somehow, since the Facebook feed started.  I can't put my finger on why that is, unless it's just Den users tuning out because of the clutter of the FB posts.  But it seems like there has been less Den posting activity lately.

Regardless of what you decide, thanks for your hard work keeping the ship afloat.

I do not like the facebook side because its another link to see eberything that is mentioned. Not to mention i use over a half dozen devices not all are signed into facebook. So just to see what is talked about can be frustrating.

Well, I have a link to post for a 727/NP229 for sale in CA, which will go on the FB page, because the guy needs to sell it ASAP and who reads the ads here these days?

I favor leaving Facebook off. I acknowledge there are users who find it easier to use it for valid reasons...rural areas with poor Internet connections seeming to be the most-cited reasons. I need to, however,  be able to respond to and to click links in Facebook posts for that feature to be of any use. That ability is not there as things now stand.  :eagle:

Thanks for turning Facebook off.  I agree with eaglebeek, since you can't follow the links or see the pictures in most cases its pretty useless, and just creates a lot more messages to wade through.
