Title: What vacuum lines to get rid of on my 85 Eagle?
Post by: JayRamb on March 30, 2016, 05:09:00 PM
Hey there!
I'm looking at what I DON'T need for my emissions lines on my 85 Eagle.

# 1.  I don't have a CAT.
#2  I HAVE a new Carter BBD.
#3  I have NO vacuum to my distributor when I pull the hose off. I don't know what to hook up to that.

What do I need and what can I get rid of that doesn't make sense to keep?

I've looked at the forum but it doesn't give me the right answers. There is a pic of an 82 emissions, but that has a different set up than my 85.

I could sure use some immediate help.

hi, answer is not so simple. First what kind of new BBD do you have? If you have a feedback BBD and your stock distributor, you need ALL your vac lines/switches in order for it to run, 84 up has computer control of BOTH dist and carb. If you have a NON feedback BBD and a nonstock dist, ie HEI, you can get rid of Most of your vac switches, except for  maybe egr, and air cleaner controls. good luck, gz

Also the 'BIG tubes' the trombones as I call them are disconnected. The top part of the vac lines that were on top of the valve cover are off. so, tomorrow i'll have to tackle the best I can for what I have left. I have EGR, others as well. HOpe it doesn't take me too long with much frustration. This was a car I purchased last year. I 'assumed' everything was in order. MISTAKE on my part. Thanks! I do have feedback. Apparently the distributor line goes to the intake on the back of the engine. The guy before me had it hooked up to the 2 port vacuum bean can on the drivers side fender well.

do a search for 84/85 vac diagram, OR there should be one on your engine sticker on the cowl. Identify the parts and go from there. Do NOT throw anything away until you KNOW what it is/does. good luck, gz
