4x4 Actuation Motor off Transmission - NOT off Front Diff
« on: November 27, 2017, 03:15:07 PM »
Hi All,
I have tried to find information about a replacement 4x4 actuation motor for my Eagle, but I have only been able to find information about the actuator itself off the transmission/transfer case.  Am I missing an actuator/vacuum motor that hangs off the side of the transmission.  I couldn't find anywhere to plug the three stray lines that came from the front differential and have had no luck finding this part anywhere.  I am wondering if I need to search a little harder for some ports to plug my lines in to or if this elusive motor actually does exist.  Any help is appreciated.

The actuator aka vacuum motor is for the transfer case. There isn't one for the transmission.

I saw the one on the front differential and the lines that go from the differential to the transmission/transfer case and there was a bracket hanging off the side of the transmission/transfer case that had nothing on it.  I looked for ports that the lines could have connected to and I couldn't find anything.  I've also looked for a diagram of this on the transmission, but the diagrams I have seen didn't have what I was looking for.

I'm a little confused. You by chance aren't calling the front axle the transfer case? The transfer case is bolted to the back of the transmission.

Yes I was.  Not sure how I got that in my head.  Edited for clarity.

They were available new for a while, but they were expensive. They were used on Grand Wagoneers, also. Your best hope is finding a used one.

Later Eagles had no actuator on the front diff.   Did someone swap in a later diff on your car??   Does your front diff have the "actuator box" cast into it??   Now I'm confusing myself!!

I stumbled across this diagram.  I believe what I'm looking for is the transfer case shift motor.
