Number 4?
« on: May 28, 2011, 07:18:22 PM »
Found this today and I have to head back and talk with the owner for a price.  opera windows have the usual rot and the dog legs are starting to show their age.  if the price is right my wife will have a total of 4 reasons to be mad at me ;D

That could even be the truth if it's on a trailer! >:D

i was told that the owner of the car wants 400 bucks for it ..... so i am going to offer 200 and see what can happen ....... it isn't a real bells and whistles car (no ac, radio delete, no right mirror) but it's a 4 door sedan and i don't have one yet, i hope the wife can understand my logic ;D

Once I showed my wife a couple of TBirds that had been sitting out in the field for a few years and had been taken over by mice.  Then when I showed her a decent looking TBird she said that it was in much better shape than the others and was okay with me buying it.  Just like painting a car, its all in the prep work  :occasion14:

LOLOL,  That was pretty funny.

even if I brought home 2 more eagles, my wife don't need to use that as excuse to be mad at me!   :'(

That is a nice find, and Eggs to you for trying to saving her.  I hope you can get it for a really fair price.

I never understood why some people allow any car rotting in a field somewhere, and then expect some kind of windfall.  The car is worth the condition it's in.

I saw an ad from a bunch of 'found' rare AMC's and there was an actual Rebel "Machine" there.  I think it went for under $500 (If I remember it was like $2-300) because it had been sitting and rotting for so long.

Just my 2 cents worth.

speaking of rotting in a field, today sleepsundercars made it out to my place today to help me with the bravada and he was talking about an old junkyard like 3 towns over ...... so we loaded up in my cavlier and headed out there, the place is amazing .... we found a half dozen hornets, 3 javlins, 2 rebel sst, 2 ramblers, 3 gremlins, and a 1980 eagle wagon (and that's only the amc cars) that place is where i got word about the sedan forsale

If it was cheap, I'd be after the Rebel SST.  I figure that would be the most valuable of the lot, and probably the one (If I could only choose one) I'd be saving.

It would also depend on what year it is, but dammm!  A Rebel SST.  Those are cool cars.

sadly those sst rebels have the looks to have been sitting in that yard since before i was born.  most of the oldies in that patch have trees growing through them.  it was exciting going through that yard (no organization what so ever) but sad at the same time because here in pennsylvania once a car gets a salvage title all of the work and money to get it back on the street as far as paperwork dwarfs the accual work done to the car :(

That's sad.  There should be a law against that kind of thing - At least for rare cars that is.

the only thing holding me back from buying this eagle at the moment is I want to pull up in my wagon to talk to the owner.  My thoughts are I will get a better deal on the car if the owner knows I already have an eagle (or 3)
