« Last post by MIPS on Today at 11:42:49 AM »Okay, well the other million dollar question is: When pulling the speedometer cable out of the transfer case, are there any O-rings or seals to be replaced that will not like being unseated?

« Last post by amcfool1 on Yesterday at 11:34:59 PM »hi, the transfer case does not have to be drained to pull the cable. On a level surface, pulling the cable out, it will leak about a cup or less of fluid. good luck, gz

I don't really have a ton of long Eagle stories, but I do have a couple of fun short ones.
The first was my acquisition and reacquisition of the car. Both times, the previous owners were fantastic people and I was super fortunate that they both were aware of my situation and wanted to help a young car guy. Both times, the car was given to me.
I also frequently get people talking to me at work or at the gas station saying something along the lines of "An Eagle! I haven't seen one of those in years! Those were great cars, I've always wanted one."
One of my favorites was at the Kenosha Homecoming Show cruise-in. My parents were driving my Eagle and I was following them in with my Comanche and a person walked up to my dad and said "Nice Eagle!" and my dad responded with "Thanks, it belongs to my sun. He's in the Comanche behind us". I also got to see rmick's Eagle there, along with a few other times in Kenosha.

« Last post by MIPS on Yesterday at 11:05:37 AM »Nah, it's been several days since I reseated the speedometer cable in the back of the speedometer and removed the skid plate to see if I could straighten out the speedometer cable leaving the transfer case and it's still wobbling the needle for speeds under 20mph. Are we absolutely positive I have not unintentionally washed out a thick grease in the speedometer that was used to prevent the wobble at low speeds? I'm still looking at the scope to pull the speedometer cable and it's absolutely not a 15 minute job. The transfer case has to be drained and the gear pulled to release the cable retainer and on the other side either you gotta pull the cluster to reach the cable or disconnect it in-place and fight with the grommet in the firewall which is immediately behind the brake booster.

Now trying to nurse a concussion and whiplash, got diagnosis last Monday after suffering a persistent headache for over a week my wife made an appointment. Almost 4 weeks in, I have decided I will NOT replace my rave4. I do not want another payment. Interest rates are way too high. I bought new tires for the Eagle, finally. The ones that were on it, I bought back in 2009 right after I got married. I was also given a 1999 Ford E250 van. So with the van and fresh safe tires on the Eagle I will be using then as daily drivers. Guess I will hit 100,000 miles in the Eagle this year after all..
