I JUST bought A 81 Eagle 30 51000 miles from BAT Bring A Trailer on 01-10-23 it has big aluminum bumpers, if you want a look go on BAT auctions and scroll down to 1-10-23 A lot of good pictures. I don't do any wrenching myself. Eagle is in very good condition all I would like is A bit more horsepower.

Good looking eagle Welcome to the Nest. One option is to do a 4.0 head swap for some more power. or do a 4.0 Stroker

Thanks for the welcome, so far I am liking the Eagle but was somewhat surprised by the lack of HP since the 6 cyl.258 has trouble getting air will A turbo or supercharger work on A stock 6cyl? I don't turn wrenches myself as I will be 82 in July and it is cheaper to have someone with skills do the work. :eaglebig:

The biggest issue is what rear end gear ratio the car has. These cars arent like modern cars with higher raving engines and rearend and transmission combinations that make for better acceleration . Stock the 258 was 115hp A turbo would help but you would need to do a lot of fab work. The simplest way to gain some hp is the 4.0 head swap. The car was not meant to be a speed demon
TheBirdman:
Dont go straight to turbos and head swaps, you can wake up a 258 pretty decently just by gutting the entire CEC system and all its vacuum leaks, replacing the carter carburetor with a motorcraft 2100 or weber dgv, and replacing the duraspark ignition with an HEI.
Plenty of cars get sidelined halfway through a major project and never driven again becasue someone bit off more than they could chew. Start small, and enjoy driving it.
