well guys survivor saw her first snow in ten years unfortunately the -20 degree weather kind of killed the battery so she wouldn't start. here are a couple of pics.

UPDATE
i found out yesterday that i will have to drop suvivors transmission before i can take her for anouther test run as it is puking fluid out of the bellhousing and on to the exaust. i'm thinking either the front seal (the one the tourq converter goes through) is shot and needs replaced or the tourq converter neck has a crack in it and needs replaced in which case the front seal will get replaced anyway. thoughts.

Probably both scenarios.  If your lucky just the front seal.  If your torque converter is original to the car you may want to plan on swapping it out too, even if the input shaft still looks OK.

toug how many times do i have to tell you you aint getting my fender. ;D ;D if you want i can get the one off the car in the yard that matches for you. you just have to wait till i get eagle eyes or survivor road worthy enough to make the trip. iowa i did think about getting a new tourq converter for her anyway but the biggest problem is $$$$$$$. quick question what color are the original tourq converters?

well that's the color of the one i pulled out of eagle eyes the first time i pulled her transmission (torque converter bolts decided to say goodbye and left the car on their own).

i went to the parts store to get a torque converter for survivor and every one they had listed for her had gear around the outside for the starter. now i have two questions. the first being does an 83 use the locking or nonlocking torque converter. and the second is what is the correct part number for the correct torque converter.

Here is an easy way to tell what type of converter you have, as long as it is original. The front input shaft will be blank on some (lockup) type, and the ones with spline all the way to the end are unlock up, so I,vie been told.

You may have to determine if the trans was ever changed before. I have seen non-lockup's wind up where they weren't supposed to be. Look in the Eaglepedia for the OEM part number.  Good luck

I found a post on here that showed a picture of the difference between the input shafts. I think you can do a web search also and find the info. I just went through this with my 82 Eagle. It had a lockup trans in it, I got a used one it was a non-lockup from an 88 , but mistankingly came with a lock up converter. Check above in my reply,I have since gotten mine from - tourqueconverter1 - dot - com . It shipped here in 2 - 3 days USPS from Cali. - to NY converter and shipping under $120 ---- thay are a mass rebuilder supplier, I am happy with it so far, no issues, comes with a warrenty, and longer warrenty for more $$$ of course. They get away with cheap shipping useing those one rate priority boxes from the post office.
Another tip - bieng it is a new converter - I cut out a round piece of cardboard a little bigger than the converter base held it up to the flex plate, punched holes through it where the bolts go , marked the bottom hole, ( or which ever one you want to ), marked that hole and the one on the flex plate it matches, then when I got the converter, I matched the cardboard to it's holes and marked the one that matches the one on the flew plate. It saved alot of hassle trying to match them up once it is in..........jusy IMO.

I believe then that would be the lockup type, as my 84 wagon is original and had that type in it. I think IE had the breakdown dates on when they went to non lockups.

'83 would be a lock up -- if original to the car.  The '84 - '88 parts catalog in the Eaglepedia will provide the date details.
