Title: 1984 Wagon daily driver, 'Zoro II'
Post by: Zoro on December 09, 2013, 07:03:09 PM
Seeing if there's any interest in my '84 Wagon. Starts up and runs every single time and will reliably get you anywhere you need to go. Fuel mileage is around 24MPG/HWY and 20 in town. It's been my DD for 4 years and has never left me stranded. It's just time for me to get something built in this century. Sold new @ Bundy AMC and lived on the Western Slope of Colorado from 1985-2010, it's been well cared for over the years.

Currently registered and inspected in NY. Never seen a NY winter, it's been stored in the garage.

It's had a BUNCH of work done to it
Engine rebuilt with less than 100K
Transfer case chain done around the same time as the engine along with the starter and alternator
Paint is recent within the past 6 years
4WD works
215/75/15 tires now but will clear 235's
AC has been converted to R134a and is cold
Intact fan shroud
Master cylinder replaced
Carb (BBD) replaced
NO BAD RUST
Good interior

Within the past month I've done springs, shocks, bushings, ball joints, CV shafts, LF wheel bearings, brake pads, brake shoes with hardware and wheel cylinders, gasket for aluminum valve cover, and replaced some hoses.

In the past year it's had belts, water pump, thermostat, upper radiator hose, lower radiator hose, thermostat housing, fan clutch, PS door regulator, NSS, starter solenoid, battery, plugs, wires, cap & rotor, Idler Pulley, front DS rebuilt. There's a bunch of other things that don't come to mind at this moment.

Only a couple of small issues with the car. I had the windshield replaced but they didn't seal it right so it leaks on the passenger side when it rains hard. Due to the leak there is a small hole in the passenger side front floorboard but it's the only rust on the entire car. Headliner sags. Emission Maint light is on when the car is off but not when it runs, it's just a nuisance really.

Oops. Binghamton, NY. It's been a great car for me, very reliable and every time I go anywhere people come out of the woodwork to ask me about it.

Real nice car,I am really interested in a manual transmission, but your car looks pretty nice and  I might be interested in taking a look at it. I am located in the Hudson Valley. Please let me know if it still available and a way to talk to you by phone. Thanks

Hi, can you post any pics of the engine compartment, chassis and interior? If it is easier to send them to an email address let me know and I'll give you mine. I would have been a little quicker on the response, but with the holidays you know.  Thank you.

wow, I like that car,  I love the black.

that would be the perfect Eagle for my wife with easy access to car seats.  have to wait, I have some priorities to finish on my SX-4 before I can buy another.

The car is still available. Just had a complete wheel alignment done @ Sear's and it's now sitting on 235/75/R15's. Drives like a newish 30 year old car. Will be getting new swaybar endlinks in the next week or two.

Yup. These photos were taken before I redid the valve cover gasket.

Headliner sags pretty good. Stock visors were replaced with a set from an '00 XJ.

It's clean enough to eat off, once the dirts washed away. These were taken before I did the suspension

Thanks. You're down towards Philly, right? Was down that way back in July or August with this Eagle. Did a turn and burn to the Jersey shore and back totaling over 550 miles in one day without missing a beat. 24MPG round trip and COLD AC.

You know you want it :p

Bump.

Might consider trading for an FSJ of comparable mechanical shape.

There has been a TON of interest in this car but mostly seems to be tire kickers.

I don't mean to come off as a jerk but there's a few things I need to get off my chest.

PLEASE if you're not 100% sure you actually want to BUY the car don't bug me for 3,500 different photos of every little aspect of the car over the course of 400 PM's/emails.

If you're going to come look please don't bring 12 of your buddies. This sale is between you and I, not me and everybody you know.

I'm NOT parting this car out.

I don't mind if you look over the car really well but I don't want the fender flares and trim removed because you don't believe me that there is no rust. 2 of the flares and associated trim are loose now because the last several people to come and look at the car did not believe me and broke the associated plastic rivets.

There is also a small amount of play in the driver side door hinge now thanks to the last guy who came to look and hung all of his 400LBS on the door. If you break it you've just bought the car. This is my daily driver and if you don't buy the car I still gotta drive it. It's for that reason that I will ride along on the test drive.

If you don't like something about the car then it's not the car for you. Please don't insult me if the radio or tires or some factory option isn't something you'd have chosen.

This is a 30yr old car that has delivered the US Mail and was built during the cold war by a company that hasn't existed since before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

There are dings and scrapes in the paint.

If you're looking for a car that you can jump right in and drive to the ends of the Earth without worry of breaking down than this is your car.

Again sorry if I sound grumpy but I've dealt with a lot of mean spirited folks lately.

Well said! And I don't blame you one bit. I'd be a might upset myself and rightfully so. Good luck on your sale.

Still here for those interested. If this doesn't sell quick this car will be brand new by the time somebody here makes up their mind.

NEW windshield installed October 1st 2014($300)

S10 axleshafts($150)

Nearly new doorhandles going in to replace the tired front handles

BRAND NEW 3 core aluminum CJ7 V8 radiator installed($200+) [photo is from build thread and does NOT show overflow hose]

NEW tie rod connecting sleeves

Most likely going back to the BFG AT's in the 215/75/R15

Only big issues that are bugging me right now are a busted grille and broken shifter which will hopefully be replaced here before too long

Best photo I have of the cracked grille and it's from last winter

Sale fell thru at the 11th hour, buyer got wet feet. I've decided to keep the car.
