Title: Using "unread posts" button and not seeing all posts.
Post by: eaglefreek on January 03, 2016, 08:21:56 AM
I use the unread posts button to view the forum and I went to the wanted ads to bump my mirror ad and noticed there were ads I haven't seen before. So, I went to the cars for sale section and there were a bunch of posts I hadn't seen before either. Does anyone know if the unread posts button doesn't work for the classifieds section? I wonder if I have missed seeing a bunch of other posts.

I see what you are talking about. I have the same problem and never noticed it till you spoke of it. I would like to say all other boards work correctly.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

After reading some of the posts there it looks like others have the same problem.

I will also ask that anyone interested in buying somthing from someone to pm the seller. Than at least ways there should be somthing to notify the seller to a possible sale.

I've had the same problem with things in the classified not showing up in the Unread Posts.

I posted that my sedan project was sold, and I was sure I would get at least one reply, but none yet.  There have also been a small number of posts that show when I click on the recent posts, and not the large numbers I was used to seeing.

Can any of the admins fix this or is this something that the site host is gonna have to fix?

Most of the admins are MIA.  The extent of my training is to approve new members, not even sure who to contact regarding problems with the host.

It's getting annoying.  I rely on this site. I've been using and getting faster replies on Facebook Eagles Forum, as many of us have.

Things like this should warrant its own thread area such as "Server News: Forum information, issues & updates" imo. Seems that it really just needs its own place... 1) so it may not get buried or overlooked 2) Gets more notice from Admin
Or just posted in the "AMC Eagles Den Updates & News" thread.

Again, just my opinion since it's not really Off Topic and it is an issue/concern to the forum & its members.

I was trying to figure out where to put it since there isn't really a dedicated place for this kind of topic and just flipped a coin and put it here.

I saw your post. but didn't reply because the for sale section really isn't a place for chit chat.

I actually moved it here from the family board.

I just noticed that up by the "Show Unread posts since last visit" and "Show new replies to your posts" buttons, there is a third button called "Show new items for Sale since last visit."  This probably shows all new posts in the classified section, split out from just the new unread posts.  Hope this clears up some of the mystery.

Nice find Van! We are so stuck in our ways we miss things right in front of our faces! I just now noticed it as well. I only ever use the one link so I didn't even think to look at the others.

Glad mystery was solved before I got here again. That was done due to complaints from people in this part about being flooded with the FB ghost posts and parts ads posts.
