This is what I have been up to
« on: June 15, 2011, 11:08:23 PM »
As some may know I have been pretty busy getting a 1980 spirit back in shape

this is how the car looked when it was delivered.  Paint peeling and a couple of holes here and there

after a few weeks of sanding, priming, sanding, and more priming we ended up with this

I can't help myself with the "hot rod" look, very little chrome and nothing that shines

I would like to thank member sleepsundercars for giving me the opportunity to do this project and I can't thank him enough for letting me barrow it to go back and forth to work until my wagon is back up to 100 percent.

On a side note this car is for sale and I will say that it is a wonderful driving car that gets exceptional gas mileage (4 cyl)

yup, the car is 99 percent ready for paint with just a few little spots that need a little bit of finishing.  I personally love the look of the car in flat black primer (well any car in flat black primer, the hot rodder in me I guess)

the flat finish is the only way to go in my opinion, the only draw back is that you can't run the car through any automatic car washes and you have to make a priority to get any dirt or bird droppings off the car because it will stain very easy

Oh but there is  ;) It's actually more like satin, but you can work with it a bit to get your desired flatness (if that's a word, lol)

Good to know because I hope to paint my Eagle olive drab some day.
