Title: replace radiator in 85 eagle
Post by: kalve on November 24, 2012, 08:24:32 AM
Was wanting to know what is a good radiator for these eagles? I have a 85 Eagle wagon an might have to replace the radiator in it. Is there any radiators out there that have the dual fans an is 3 or 4 core radiators for these eagles?

Don't know about currently available, but when looking at 3 vs. 4 core, look at the size of the cores.
I got a 3 core, but they were larger than stock.

Will a 4 core radiator for a CJ Jeep work on these eagles?

my 85 eagle has A/C I was just wondering if the 3 or 4 core radiator will fit with no problem. I am wanting to go the biggest radiator with the most fans I can.

If you're still looking for a radiator, the 2-row aluminum one for a CJ will take slight modification but is probably your best bet for cooling. They don't have built in fans, but you really don't need any other fan than what comes stock on the 258. Most electric fans won't move nearly as much air and will be more trouble to install.

Btw, if the aluminum 2-row isn't enough to keep your engine cool, you have more problems than just the radiator.

I picked up a new 3 row brass CJ rad (for V8 conversion) to put in my '84 J10. I'll test fit it in my Eagle too!

yea I went ahead an bought a factory radiator from advance for bout $100 an had it installed after I posted this. I am still repairing everything on the car so I can drive it daily it is currently sitting at Aamco Transmission an is needing all seals replaced except for 2 under it they have already been replaced by me & it needs a u joint an pitman arm replaced. Have not done anything to the engine yet. Its a good car just lot of stuff to replace were it sat 8 years in the weather not started or anything.

ok its from Advance Auto an its a Ready-Rad Part # 433579   MST #00117 - Radiator SKU # 5896029 an I thought it was $100 its $190.78. I replaced cooling, exhaust, vacuum hoses, fuel lines & full tune up, alt, starter etc.. & now all seals on the car & had all fluids changed for probably under 3K includes cost of buying car were it was sitting so long left nothing to chance for using it as daily driver.  Another thing to you can scrap the radiator an other parts you replace on the car an get some of your money back that way to.

I know it's a little late for you now, but I always make big purchases (really any purchase that I'm not already in the store for) from Advance Auto's website because you can find great coupon codes online. Your radiator would have been $50 less.
