My original retaining screw on my daily driver was stripped, I placed it in the ashtray and ended up dumping it out along with ashes. I cannot find this part anywhere. does anyone know where to look? or what the technical term of the part would be

Are you talking about the screw that holds the knob on? Try putting a "Want Ad" and see if any one has an extra one.
