258 warm idle oil presure

I have heard that the AMC 258 is known for low oil pressure. Just wondering if it's true.

I'm running a NAPA oil filter, Rotella 15-40 and mechanical gauge.

I have 2 strokers. so that means the oil pressure from the critical areas remains the same. head and lifters do not affect it so much. oil filter maybe never experienced it. i went through different brands. and i use a mechanical gauge.

i get at idle ca. 25 psi warm 45 to 55 psi warm highway. so this 3 psi holy crap. my concord old terrible rebiuld on it gets 15 psi warm idle. another mechanical gauge.

3psi would worry me

Depends on the oil you run. It's flow that is more important that actual pressure. Fram filters have a habit of imploding and blocking oil galleries and killing motors (I have photos of the crud I back flushed from my 460 in the '91 E350 I had that ONLY ran factory and Fram filters from new.)
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

Mine runs right at to just over 20 warm idle. Brandon said he had a rebuilt engine installed approximately (speedometer inop.) 15 - 20 thousand miles ago. I am running a mechanical gauge also.

I get 0-3 after it warms up along with a bit of smoke out the tailpipe.  Tried a different oil pump and it didn't help. Car is sitting because of it. I've got a long block with 100k on it and a 4.0 head to put in when I get the time

The 1981 Service manual says that normal operating oil pressure at 600 rpm should be 13 psi, and 37-75 at 1600+ rpm
1981 Kammback 258 - "Pepe"
1980 Coupe 258 - "Ginger
