My 78 Concord AMX
« on: February 04, 2010, 02:08:16 PM »
Here are some of pics of my 78 Concord AMX.  I bought this car probably ten years and have spent the whole time amassing parts for this rare bird.  It is a true v-8 Automatic, with the Levi's interior.  I have nearly all replacement metal for the car, with fiberglass fenders and even found some NOS flares and ground effects. I have tried to get nearly everything NOS and do this one right. The car only has 54k miles but was a Michigan car thus the rust EVERYWHERE haha.  I am just about ready to get the project underway.  We recently got the motor running but will rebuild it due to how long it was sitting.  Its going to be all stock restored with very few modifications.  If anybody comes across any parts for it Please let me know!

Sitting in with a few of the parts cars and future projects! haha

Will hopefully have some more up pics soon as i find them!

Pacers, Eagles, Ramblers, Concords, and Wagoneers O' MY. Nice collection! That AMX will be a nice car when done. Is that blue FSJ a Wagon, J10, or Cherokee?

The blue one is a 76 J-10...slowly working on that one..its got a bds suspension lift on 32's...someday we'll get to the body work!

I hear ya about the body work. I have an 84 J-10 and even in dry West Texas the bed rots. Would you mind posting a pic of it?

2,540 in 1978 of them and you have one of the remaining survivors.  I am envious -- heck I am envious of anyone with a Concord or Hornet Hatchback.  I will be watching this project with great interest.

The V-8 and levi's interior and paint scheme make it a very rare combo...which makes it all the more worthwhile!

you are all making me severely jealous. I looked at one for a few months.. and decided i had to have it. So i checked on it.. and wouldn't you know, someone went to look at it that morning and snatched it away.  :'(
it was a 258, not the 304.. but i want the 258. (not opposed to having a 304 if its running really good already) it was so ridiculously pretty! I was pretty down on myself for taking so long to decide that i missed out on it. Found a few others.. but they needed a bit more work than i had wanted. :-\
I'll be watching this project as well...with extreme interest. ;D

DGeagle.. email or pm me a list of parts you are still lookin for. I do alot of searching for spares so that when I finally get mine out here (it is currently having a long sleepover with a couple Eagles out east) I will be able to have a jumpstart on the project. I don't need a whole lot, so If I know what you're lookin for, I can relay what I find if it would be of help to you  :)

There was a nice 78 levi amx for sale on the net a while back being sold for parts for just over a grand...the body, drive train  and interior were great...the underside was really rotted though....just looked for it and it was not there anymore so Im guesing someone got it...Ill let ya know if I see it again
I actually bought that car because it had a few things I needed.  I know have two black Levis v-8 Concord AMX's...it actually looks like both will be restorable, so maybe in a few years I'll have one up for sale!

Very cool, thanks for the up dates, I am looking forward to more as you get it all done, you are doing a great job!

If you cant remember where something goes let me know, I have an all original unrestored, unmolested 78 AMX that I found in a barn and rescued!

Its a 258 auto, but its one smooth running nice riding cruiser, and the ONLY one at any car show I ever go to for sure!

Also someone on this thread was looking for a front spoiler, if so let me know I know someone who has one

Thanks

Gorgeous!  I will no doubt have some interior questions as i'm piecing together the best set of Levis stuff I have compiled from 3 cars.  Good to know someone who has one in such amazing shape.  I've got a lot of extra parts as well, if you ever need anything!  Still have the whole parts car, minus a bit of metal haha

WOW!  :o That's gorgeous, Rob. Now I really need to make over to Manchester. I remember being in high school in the 80's and drooling over one in the Auto Trader. I must have stared at that one little black and white picture for hours.
