Eagle SX4 1983 smaller gas tank than other Eagles???

I tried to install a new gas tank in my Eagle SX4 1983 and it cane from Canada and is listed as AMC1. The tank was 21 gallons and did not fit. Does anyone know what gives here? Or can the bigger tank fit up somehow?

indeed the filler neck is in a slightly different location between the 50 series and 30 series cars.  a spirit or a latter AMX tank is a direct fit and is what your looking for

The gas tanks for the SX/4 and Kammback are the same, and they are different than the tanks for the wagons.  The small Eagle tanks are supposed to hold 21 gallons, but I can never get more than 17 in mine (even after I run out of gas lol), supposedly because of the lack of a vent.

I can compare the 2 tanks this weekend. I have a used smaller one I got with my kammback, and I have the one from the sedan I stripped out last weekkend. Will take lots of pics.

If all else fails, and you have *some* fab skills, a 96 and older xj cherokee tank can be made to fit quite nicely.
