Title: Eagle Wagon from Kerrville, Texas
Post by: JONAS78028 on July 13, 2017, 09:34:42 AM
Hello!  I am new to the world of AMC and I just picked up an 83' Eagle Wagon 6 cylinder automatic.  It only has 47K original miles on it and I am now the 3rd owner.  It is a time capsule that was stored indoors for many years and it is in excellent condition.  Under the hood looks like the day it left the factory and the interior pretty much looks brand new (although I had to replace the sagging headliner right away).  It does have a rough idle when in drive which I suspect is a vacuum leak issue.  I plan to get that sorted out this coming weekend.  I hope to learn from and contribute to this forum.  Thanks for having me!

Welcome and thanks for sharing the photos of your Eagle with us!  We rarely see these in that nice condition (the exception being those at the Rambler Ranch).  This is the best place for anything and everything AMC Eagle!

Congrats on the Eagle purchase!   Nice to have yet another Texan on board (I'm in Wimberley).

The idle issue may be the usual clogged bleed tubes in the carb (very common).

I'll be happy to help with hands-on things if you ever want to schlep the car over to Wimberley!

There is also an AMC Regional Show in September in Temple on the courthouse grounds.   Try to make it if you can!   See the AMC of Houston Club web site for details.

Thanks for the welcome guys!
I will investigate the carb this weekend and hopefully be able to "unclog" those bleed tubes... otherwise I may just order a new carb from rockauto.
The AMC show in September sounds like something that me and my wife would like to attend.  I will research that!

Oh wow... I just found my car here on this site!  Looks like I bought my wagon from MonkeyJoe.  (he did mention this forum to me)

Here is a link to that thread... http://forums.amceaglesden.com/index.php?topic=43006.0

I just remember it being a pita, and than beers later well. I also did a first gen taurus once and the steering wheel ended up in the backseat lol that was worse.

yeah it was a pita to do but I don't think mine would have been as bad as it was if the company that had put my new windshield in hadn't glued my dash and windshield together :banghead: because I had no idea they had done that I ended up breaking my dash and my passenger side a-piller trim when I tried to remove them.

I started at 10:30 in the morning and completely finished around 3 in the afternoon.  Forcing myself to wash my hands so as not to muck up my interior pieces was the hardest part for me!
