« on: April 27, 2011, 01:54:51 PM »
i got a shorty head for a jeep a wile back and test fit it on my head with my intake manifold today there's a slight problem Ive encountered ill take some pics and describe whats happened that I'm concerned about

here is the header shiny new beautiful

here it is on my 7120 cast 93 4.0 jeep head

here it is with the intake manifold attached almost looks good right?

here's my problem

and here's a couple pics of the cause couldn't get the lighting right

  :banghead:

  :banghead:

see that lil screw in the bottom of the intake manifold its bumpin grindin on my darn header! I'm not sure if i just screw it more in if it will fix the problem or take it out grind it down so its not sticking out as far or if i just need to put a dent in the header I'm not sure what that would do to its flow tho

any suggestions?

Personally I would grind the plug a bit so it will clear your header, I'd rather grind on a $1 plug than dent a $300 header, lol.

That sure is purtty. I would assume that is for a 99+ Jeep and made to work with the efi manifold. Hope you can figure it out. Have you already figured out if you will be able to clear the front diff and steering shaft with the dual outlets?

its a 2000-2006 header and it will clear the steering shaft and the front diff if the stock intake wasn't warped stock it would fit fine its cause the intake ports on the left are angled up and the ones on the right are angled down may have to get a different intake if i  cant get this one to work but ill figure something out, if i can get them to sit flat on the head is it alright for the intake manifold to touch one of the exhaust pipes? or would the heating up on the intake cause problems?

Update! So I have my intake manafold exaust header problum solved! There was a couple other spots the intake touched the exauset pipes but with minor grinding on the intake and slight denting of the header (nothing that will mess up the flow) it all pans out to a nice snug fit I'm happy to say I found the header for only 180 dollers by searching for a shordy header for a 2000-2006 jeep probably going with a duel exaust if I can get it to work may end up with just a single exaust thow.
