Saw a '78 Concord with a V8

It's not an AMX, but it's got a V8 in it... It would be so cool to drive an innocent looking 4 door sedan with a 304 (maybe bigger V8 ;D ) under the hood...

The only problem is, my friend who owns it doesn't want to sell it to me because he said that it is too rusty in the front.  I haven't seen under the car personally, but something in me thinks that it can be saved.  Just about anything can be fixed, right?
