1983 AMC Eagle Woody Wagon
« on: July 01, 2012, 11:27:51 PM »
Hello,
I finally made a video of my new baby.  I named her "Foxy Brown".  I had a good time with her this weekend letting everyone see her.  It is funny the reactions you get.  The people who know what it is think it is really cool.  The ones that have no idea look at it with kind of a pitying look on their face.

I hope you enjoy my video.  I hope it shows up and is a usable link!

Liked it enough that I subscribed.  :) Hope to see more neat videos of your eagle. I will upload plenty on my eagle once I get her running.

I may be Eagleless, but I'm still roaming the forums! :)

I had to get rid of it myself as I was worried I was going down that road too!! With such a nice wagon to start with I just couldn't.

Great video Alex! Can't wait to see more!

I swear I heard him say he was going to put some 20" wheels with spinners on it, and some tires that were like 1/2" above the rims.  Then there was something about hydraulics too...

To get this back on track, is Foxy Brown your daily driver or will it be an occasional driver?

That was going to be a neat little accent. Unfortunately now it will never come to fruition.

I believe it will be her DD. She was saying her '91 Grand Am was on it's last leg and she didn't wanna get one of those cookie cutter Subarus! :)

Love your video!  I think Foxy Brown would look even better if you lowered her rear end to stock ride height and put the original Eagle grill back on.

My boyfriend's Dad wants me to lower the rear end as well.  I AM PUTTING THE ORIGINAL GRILL BACK ON!  You read my mind.  No offense to Rafe who did a great job putting the nice Spirit grill on her, but I think the original looks better myself.  I think the height on the back makes her look a kinda intimidating...I like.

The idea was I was going to make this car my DD, but now that I have it here I find myself reluctant to get rid of the Grand Am even though she does not go in reverse.  I got a parking space inside at my building.  She is so nice I do not want to drive her too much.  But then again, if I look at what I was doing with my last DD (1991 Grand Am - awesome car her name is "Penny")...I only drove her about 2-3k miles per year.  I don't drive all that much.  Any opinions on whether it is good to just drive her a few miles every day.  Doesn't that help keep her alive and in good shape and not dry rotting and secluded in some garage where she can't let her light shine?!!!

Yes, its a better idea to drive it a few miles regularly rather than let it sit in a garage all the time, but you do want to drive it enough to get it up to operating temperature.

Operating temp is going to take a while since I am in South Dakota.  It is hot now, but that just means it will be a cold cold winter.

The ambient temp does not change the time it takes to get to operating temp that much.  Just driving it a couple miles or less will get it up to temp.

Spoken like someone who lives in southern California, lol.  Trust me, when its -40 it takes a lot longer to get to operating temperature than it does when its +60.

If you drive it more in the summer it won't matter if you skip the shorter drives in the winter.
