horn and wiper squirter not working
« on: November 05, 2014, 08:12:51 PM »
Greetings. 1985 Eagle. Horn and wiper squirter stopped working the same day. The pigtail to the horn relay was melted. Horns still work when the horn power wire gets touched to the + battery post.

Replaced the relay and pigtail and still does not work. Test light shows no current coming from the horn button wire in the pigtail when the horn is pressed. The + supply wire to the pigtail has power all the time.

I am suspecting that these two things share the same power somewhere since they both quit the same day.

The fuse box has no fuses relating to horn or wiper squirter.

Anyone know where the fuse-able link is or an inline fuse somewhere?

The horn button does not supply power to the relay, it grounds the relay coil instead when the button is pressed. The relay acts like a switch which has a lever which is pulled down by the coil when the horn button is depressed.

Power to the relay and windshield washer may be the same though.
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!
