Gold Eagle Head Emblems
« on: July 16, 2020, 05:12:30 PM »
OK; I saw a set of 3 NOS Eagle Head emblems (all 3 were right side) on Ebay at a starting bid of $6 for the set plus $3 postage.  Can't go wrong there!  So I bid and won them for the starting bid!

They just showed up today, and they aren't chrome-colored (tho the Ebay pics looked like chrome); they are gold tinted chrome!!   What's up with that??   I remember back in the '80's that there were some dealer editions of other make cars with dealer-added gold emblems.   Or maybe these were somebody's belt buckle project??   Who knows!

Anyway, I'd like to figure out how to gold-plate a left side emblem from my NOS parts stash to match, and put them on my Sundancer targa (since the Sundancers don't have any Eagle head emblems anywhere).

Anyone seen these gold emblems before??

I remember back in the late '70's when I was a Pontiac dealership hack, there was a vendor that would come in and put a gold wash on chrome emblems on certain cars.  Never did watch how they did it tho, 'cus I thought at the time that gold emblems were cheesy!!

There is a "Presidential" Eagle out at the Rambler Ranch and I took some pictures of it a few years ago.  I don't have a real closeup of the Eagle emblems but from the pictures they appear to be the standard chrome/black color.
