General Service and Diagnosis / Re: Pulling engine w/ transmission

the valve cover can be removed without pulling the wiper motor. just need extensions and a u-joint in the middle.
I have pulled the motor from the topside leaving the axle in place. it's tight but doable.

My plan is to take the transfer case off, and try to pull the engine and transmission as one unit. I need to pull the transmission anyway.

I've pulled the head with the engine still in the car, leaving the exhaust manifold in place. I also have a metal aftermarket valve cover but with the extra bolt holes drilled and tapped. The ones at the rear can come out with socket extensions and removing the wiper motor.

To remove the engine, transmission and transfer case as one unit, you need to disconnect the CV's and drop the subframe which means unbolting everything back to the driveshaft and lifting the front of the car.

In case the Eaglepedia doesn't have the wiring diagrams for the '82 I've put them on imgur in several pieces.

Oh, about the interior lights!  Try and turn the headlight knob one way or another.  I just worked on a few old cars so forgive me if I misremember, but I'm almost positive this adjusts the dash light brightness.  Turning it all the way bright should turn on the interior lights.  Also there are little door switches in each door, you can look to see if one of them is broken or something.

Sounds like the Eagle rehab is coming along great.  It can be hard to find the time, even harder to find the parts!  ;)

Yeah, I still haven't called the dealer to look for those head bolts yet. That's on the list for sure.

In terms of the interior lights, there seems to be a couple different lights for the doors even compared to the ones lit up. It's kind of odd honestly. I never found a ground hooked the the block or one disconnected. As I said, there's wiring missing at the firewall that's clearly been cut so I have questions. I'm not sure I'll like the answers though. Not only that but looking at the home added wiring I think it's going to have to get ripped out and redone. I also think the dash got removed at a point, so I'll probably have to follow that path as well truthfully.

Rockauto happens to have the Moog ES2107RL on manufacturer closeout!  I bought one and now it says one remaining!  Get it while it lasts, and congrats to the lucky recipient!

I'd say watch the Eagle pages on spacebook. That's where I got mine. Possibly Flea-Bay will have one. They're not unobtainium, but not that common. Make sure you specify auto. or stick when buying, there IS a difference. Are you looking for one with gauges or without & add your own? The one I bought came with gauges (inop.). I had a friend make a panel & install custom gauges for mine. IF you're on spacebook, a couple people that are good for AMC (used) parts are Michael Lakin (AMC Owner) & Todd David Birch. Good luck!

Reaching out to all you wonderful folks in the hopes that one of you may know of a company or website or websites that one could go to to purchase a Floor Gauge Console for their Eagle.  Google searching has turned up little.

Do you know of any place that maybe does reproductions?  I don't see why you couldn't 3D print a new one.

I found a drawing for it here but unfortunately there were no dimensions.  Does anyone have a drawing with dimensions they would be willing to share?

I've attached images for what I am after and have already.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to provide.
