Title: Other "Styles" of side mirrors?
Post by: Hawk258 on October 17, 2011, 03:43:52 PM
As you all know I have been planning for a long time and am a bit eccentric (Nuts is more like it even by These standards) anyway I have been toying with changing the mirrors to something that "Looks" abit more modern and have a few ideas one of which is creating my own mount but that's for later. The goal of this is to get it closer to the corner of the windows like many of these modern vehicles and I am have 2 donor options. one is The 1982 Dodge Miranda as it uses a mount inside the door it appears

and the 1980+ Trans am

not sure if the body line of the T/A will work, BUT I hope you see the what I mean. I know, it's "Odd" but it's more for aesthetics than function.

I actually might have a set of the 82+ F-body mirrors buried in my garage.

I used the mirrors off of an Isuzu Trooper on my 84 wagon.  They almost fit the stock mounting holes exactly.  Plus, they are bigger than the stock mirrors.

Here they are mounted on the 82 wagon I used to have.  Front and back shot.

Here they are on my 84 limited.

Super easy to fit them on if you don't mind manual mirrors.  I was also looking into power mirrors off of a Toyota Previa, as they also had a very similar mount to the eagle.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Looks good, just need to fix the base to make it look more like a factory parts.

They do give the car a much larger presents, I am sure the larger area of view is nice too.

if I can dig them out, just pay me the shipping and you can have them.

You'll have to give me a few weeks though, we're in the middle of moving. So they're packed away somewhere.
I'm about 80% sure I still have them. I'll let you know.

Several of us have used the following mirrors on our Eagles.  Easy install and they work great.  You can buy them from several places, I bought them from Amazon.  I think Advance Auto sells them also.

Thanks, I ordered two so I can get rid of the unstable remotes.  Oh, part number is 901. Anybody need a set of slightly used remotes??
